I know no one will say this but...is this a race issue? It just doesn't make any sense to me why this trade happened. I'm not buying the Habs teammates not liking PK either. |

my opinion.......the coach didn't like the way subban played, and subban didn't want to change the way he played to make the coach happy. management sided with the French speaking coach from quebec, rather than the English speaking kid from southern Ontario. |

...pretty much. The Habs management seem to not like anyone "too much" in the spotlight. There is a certain perceived sophistication that they think they have and clearly PK doesn't fit their mold. I think it's BS, but be that as it may, PK sure does "Hollywood" it up. He's already doing so in Nashville. I think Habs' management just went about it the wrong way.
On the ice, fans will be very surprised and extremely happy with what Weber brings to their team. All of this other noise about PK, the room, etc. etc....is kind of proving management's point.
I also think it's the reason people think Weber is so much older than PK...but it's only three years. He's just a helluva lot more mature.

The Habs are a franchise that hates anyone that takes away from the front of the sweater. Anyone with an ounce of personality.
The helluva lot mature comment has to be a joke right? You know this how?
Shea Weber is great but PK is better, Weber wasn't even the best defensemen on his team last year. |

The main leak comes from an ex-player that now works on a radio show.
Doubt players that hated PK would text EK... |

Bergevin should now, without a doubt, be considered the worst GM in the league. Honestly, I do not even think it's close. At best, Shea Weber is a second defenseman. In a couple years, he'll be a 3rd pairing defenseman making 8 million per year. |

I think PK and Weber bring completely different things to a team, therefore they are hard to compare straight up. One thing is certain, Weber is an elite NHL "defenseman". There is a reason he is a top pairing Dman on team Canada and PK didn't even make the team. This is in a 5-8 game elimination tourney though, where Weber's composure is needed and PK's "flair" gets punished. Over an 82-game season, I agree that PK becomes more valuable and his high-risk game can also bring high return.
Weber will shore up the back end, he will lead the team, he will move the puck, and more importantly he will protect Price. Come February I think this will be very obvious and Habs fans will see a big improvement in their team's overall play.
25% of the time PK was not even the best defenseman on the HABS!
and 100% of the time PK will not be the best defenseman on the Preds.
I thought it was a comparable between Weber and Subban, I don't remember including Roman Josi in this discussion.

According to? Almost everyone in hockey will tell you that Weber has slowed down considerably. I think his many flaws will be very easy to see in Montreal. |

That doesn't mean anything. Price got injured first because Kreider crashed into him from a breakaway, how does Weber protect against that? Last time, he injured his knee while doing a save, so again no use there. |
